Welcome to another addition to the Goal Setting Series. We are so happy you are following along and hopefully implementing if not all, some of the strategies listed to finally achieve those huge, amazing goals you have! In this series, we have gone over Your What, Your Why, Give your Goals a Facelift, Daily Practices & Behavioral Triggers, What could hold you back? and today, we are going over social influences.

Think about how you have “failed” your goals in the past? Did you announce this goal to the universe to keep you accountable? It’s common sense that if you keep those thoughts and ideas only in your mind, you “feel” like its somewhat ok since no one knows about it, so no one is going to bring it up to make you feel guilty, right?

What you are doing is a disservice to yourself and your goals. Here are some ways you can hold yourself accountable with social influence:

Social Media

No surprise here, eh? With social media, there are so many online communities that you could join to feel you are not alone.

  • Join a Facebook group: Joining a facebook group close to the niche that you want to focus on, learn can be a great way to feel accountable to your goals. You will be able to see other peoples struggles and celebrations to keep you motivated and hopefully help you learn something new. Thrive Rally just started a Facebook group for the ambitious perfectionist that is looking for more than life. In this group, I am providing resources on goal setting, productivity, and self-discovery. Looking to discovery the better you in the upcoming new year, come on over to the community here.

  • Start a Facebook group: Don’t see a group that will help you with your specific niche? Start a Facebook group of your own! Ask others in your life that are looking to join a group that are looking to lose weight, learn a new skill or even learn a new language and hold each other accountable. As the leader of the group, you can send out daily prompts to keep people motivated. This will keep you accountable since you are the leader of the group and should be setting the example.

  • Start a Blog of your journey: You can do so many mediums when it comes to sharing your journey. You can do this on your own facebook group, your Instagram or create a blog. Post pictures of progress, things that inspire you and motivate you to keep going and other items you might be using to achieve your goals. Not only will this make the progress fun but could be inspiring others. 🙂

  • Join online masterminds group: Per the googles, “a mastermind group is a meeting of highly motivated people who share a common goal and are looking to encourage and help each other improve.” This could be part of the Facebook group that you created or can create this group in your local community through “meet-up”.

  • Set- up monthly challenges and share with your community: Looking to be more productive? Eating better? Exercising at least 30 mins a day? Becoming a better writer? You hear from all the greats you should never stop learning and continue to challenge yourself. So plan out monthly challenges for the next 12 months and put it out to your community. Engage them to do the challenge with you! Share your photos, share your struggles, your wins and any tips along the way.

Friends & Co-workers

An oldie but a goodie.

Do you know someone that has similar goals as you? Or someone that sometimes lacks the motivation to keep going? Be each other’s cheerleader and shoot for the moon!

Set-up check-in’s with each other to ensure that you are both putting in the work for your goals. Have deadlines for specific tasks that need to get done from now until the end of the month and hold each other accountable for these items. Tell each other your pain points and what’s working. To make it fun, have something planned to celebrate each month should you complete the months’ tasks!

Hire a Coach

There are coaches for everything these days, business, organization, creative business, weight coach…you name it, they have it.

Ready to step up to the next level of your life? Then maybe hiring a coach might be for you. I happen to find my coach through a facebook group. I just left a post saying what I was looking for and the comments just came pouring in. They gave me the opportunity to look through so many entries and see who I thought I would jive with most.

I am so glad I did, I freaking love my coach. She pushes me, supports me and helps to provide me clarity.

Looking for a coach? Here’s mine.

I hope that this post inspires you to find an accountability partner, group or start a group of your own. If you want your dreams to come true you need to be strategic and work those steps into your life. If you missed any of the other posts of this series, you can see them here:

I love this!! Such great ideas. One thing about running your own business is how alone you can feel. Having a way to socialize with others and still build your business is wonderful.

I love goal setting. Reviewing them sometimes not so good. My yearly one is fine – my
monthly one – needs some review! Thank you for the input – most helpful 🙂
